The Role
Join a startup product group within Bloomberg. We are developing next generation cloud services based web product for a trillion dollar asset class & industry. This senior programmer position is based in New York City, the financial capital of the word with awesome cultural institutions, schools & life.
You are an experienced Oracle developer skilled at building high performance data access platforms for 24x7 real-time web based information delivery systems. You understand data normalization, Relational models, non-relational models, query optimizations & engineering tradeoffs needed for a high performance, reliable and highly available service platform.
Qualifications:
- Strong Computer Science Background. Equal to BS/MS Computer Science
- Extremely Strong PL/SQL skills and Stored Procedure development
- Experience supporting Oracle PL/SQL code in high volume client-facing applications
- Extensive knowledge of unit testing stored procedures implemented to return complex data structures to data access layers.
- Performance tuning and query optimization Oracle 10g and 11g
- Data Modeling skills and normalizations
- Design of high performance Stored Procedures / SQL code that are deadlock free & avoids contentions in a highly concurrent environment.
- Physical database design issues: indexes, de-normalization, materialized views, judgment on costs, benefits, analysis and tradeoffs
Helpful:
- Experience developing Java/C/C++ business tier for large web applications.
- C/C++ Linux/Unix Systems programming, shell/awk/perl/Python programming.
