The role: Associate Webmaster Intern
Google is known for its speed and clean design, and our websites must also be fast and clean. Our Webmaster team creates and maintain Google's web sites. As a Webmaster, you collaborate with Marketing and Engineering teams to create compelling, efficient and accessible web pages. You work independently on many projects, but also take directions from team members across the organization. The impact of your work is huge as millions of users traffic our websites every day.
You will contribute to overall workload of team by developing and designing web pages, editing images, and by project-managing own workload.
Responsibilities:
* Develop and provide day-to-day maintenance of web content.
* Design and quickly implement clear, effective web pages.
* Create and optimize web images for download efficiency and clean design.
* Respond to a variety of web-related requests across departments.
* Synthesize feedback from multiple sources.
Minimum Qualifications:
* Currently pursuing a BS, MS or PhD in computer science or a related technical field.
Preferred Qualifications:
* Experience implementing and maintaining web content.
* Expert HTML and CSS skills.
* Working knowledge of Adobe Photoshop.
* Strong scripting and database skills, including Perl/CGI, MySQL, and JavaScript.
* Experience in a Unix environment.
* Keen eye for clean UI implementation and knowledge of website design best practices.
