The Role:

The Bloomberg Legal Department is seeking a senior intellectual property attorney with five to seven years of relevant and applicable licensing experience in connection with in-bound and out-bound technology and information services transactions and various intellectual property matters. The Legal Department directly advises and works closely with business and technology executives on technology and intellectual property issues in order to achieve the clients' objectives and collaborates with other attorneys and partners to identify and minimize risk in accordance with the company's policies and procedures.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Provide technology and intellectual property legal advice and counsel in all areas of the company's diverse businesses and various internal support groups. Structure, draft, review, analyze and negotiate technology and intellectual property transactional agreements, including data licenses, software licenses, maintenance agreements, outsourcing agreements, services agreements, and consulting agreements from both customer and vendor perspectives.

This role will serve as an essential business partner in shaping business strategy, identifying business risks, and defining company policies and procedures. The successful candidate will
build and maintain client relationships by assisting sales and core business teams, as well as a large research and development department, with all issues.

Qualifications:

-JD degree with outstanding academic credentials
-5 to 7 years of relevant and applicable experience, in-house experience in the financial
services industry and/or technology industry preferred
-Member of the New York bar
-In-depth licensing experience, with broad transactional background in drafting, negotiating, analyzing and closing technology licensing, purchasing and services agreements
-Strong interpersonal, analytical, problem solving, organizational and communication skills
-The ability to manage multiple projects and clients
-Excellent business judgment and strategic thinking
-Ability to communicate effectively at all levels and to both legal and non-legal
professionals
-Self starter and strong motivator
-Ability to build and maintain strong client relationships
