The role: Ethics and Compliance Counsel, Government Contracts and Procurement&lt;br /&gt;

Responsibilities:&lt;br /&gt;

The role: Patent Counsel&lt;br /&gt;
As a Patent Counsel, you will have the unique opportunity to develop and implement Google's strategy to protect, defend and capture the value of its patents. Your tasks will be varied and interesting and will include patent-related protection, licensing, dispute resolution (pre-litigation and litigation), acquisition, deals and policy work. You will work with engineers, product developers, executives and other legal team members, and will be responsible for managing outside counsel. Responsibilities:&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
* Determine strategic areas for patenting.&lt;br /&gt;
* Negotiate patent related deals including licensing and acquisitions.&lt;br /&gt;
* Respond to notice letters and assist with patent litigation.&lt;br /&gt;
* Evaluate and reply to potential acquisitions and licensing opportunities.&lt;br /&gt;
* Generally educate researchers and engineers on patent issues.&lt;br /&gt;

Requirements:&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
* JD degree with a strong academic record.&lt;br /&gt;
* State bar membership and eligibility to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.&lt;br /&gt;
* At least 3 years of relevant legal experience, but welcome more and will provide responsibility and compensation commensurate with experience.&lt;br /&gt;
* Knowledge of computer science, electrical engineering or information retrieval, either through undergraduate degree or industry experience.&lt;br /&gt;
* Demonstrated experience in one or more of the following: identifying patentable technologies, dispute resolution, acquisition, licensing and/or handling of third party demands.&lt;br /&gt;

The role: Patent Litigation Counsel&lt;br /&gt;
As a Patent Litigation Counsel, you will manage lawsuits and third party disputes involving intellectual property issues, focusing mainly on patent disputes but including other areas such as trademark and copyright. You are an experienced attorney with a technical background such as a computer or electrical engineering or computer science degree (USPTO admission is a plus). ?? In this role, you will partner with outside counsel and be very involved in your litigation matters, including drafting pleadings, discovery requests and responses, and motions, taking and defending depositions, and attending and participating in mediation and hearings. You will have significant interaction with almost all business areas of Google, such as Product Management, Engineering, Corporate Communications, Human Resources and Sales.
