System Administration Team Lead job in Sofia at The Stars Group

We are looking for a System Administrator Team Lead to join our busy and dynamic System Administration team based in our Sofia office or Bulgaria remote (within country).

Our tech teams can work remotely within country, occasionally you’ll need to come to the office. Not often, but up to 4-5 times a month and of course, we’ll cover all related expenses. Working as a team is what makes us great and spending quality time together is essential for keeping us mission-aligned.

Are you our next star player?

As System Administration TL you will be part of the team that manages and delivers software development projects and helps to ensure availability of key DevOps services used by the software development teams and Business units as well as critical QA/UAT and production environments. You will lead a small team in keeping our non-prod environments up and running while making improvements to how we operate and run them as well as release software to production.

Why we need you?

You will have the opportunity to join a multinational team of more than 20 experienced professionals. The role reports directly to the manager who is located in Bulgaria.

Some of your responsibilities will be:

• Lead a small team, making sure they are motivated and deliver on time
• To help automate and streamline our operations and processes
• Support building and maintaining tools for deployment, monitoring, and operations
• Troubleshooting and resolving issues in our dev, QA/UAT environments for a wide variety of projects 
• You will maintain, upgrade and configure our internal services

Who we’re looking for?

Our new System Administrator TL should have an extensive experience in an IT infrastructure role with strong background in Linux and Cloud administration. Strong advantage will be if you are certified in Linux, VMware, Citrix and have good knowledge of Mac OS X. Leadership/ mentor-ship experience. 

Your experience:

• Experience with server virtualization and software defined networking
• Messaging middle-ware and AMQP. Specifically Kafka and Artemis
• SQL in general and PostgreSQL, MySQL specifically (NoSQL experience, such as Cassandra, Redis and MongoDB is a plus.)
• Cloud services (experience with AWS would be nice)
• Automation/configuration management using either Salt, Puppet, Chef, or an equivalent
• Some experience focused on coding and scripting (mostly Bash, Python, Java, Groovy)
• APM tools such as NewRelic or SysDig
• Familiar with Apache and Nginx web servers running and configuring

• Following the best methodologies and IT operations but also able to suggest any improvements
• A self-starter with the ability to make progress with minimal direction.
• Good interpersonal skills, capable of mentoring people
• Ability to work under pressure whilst maintaining accuracy and attention to detail
• Strong written and presentation skills in English.
