This role can be based anywhere in Germany but ability to travel within Europe region to address client’s onsite requirements for short durations when they arise, possibly 2 weeks onsite in a 6-8 week period will be required. Travel generally does not exceed 40%, but it will depend on client requirements.

SS&C Algorithmics’ clients include banks, broker dealers, asset managers, hedge and private equity funds and service providers. Algorithmics' solutions deliver the risk analytics clients need to address the impact of business and regulatory changes; including X-Value Adjustment (xVA), Fundamental Review of the Trading Book (FRTB), Standardized Approach for Counterparty Credit Risk (SA-CCR), Basel Regulatory Credit calculations, ALM and Regulatory Liquidity, Limit Management Systems of Credit Risk, Real Time Credit systems and Targeted Review of Internal Models (TRIM).


The Role


The SS&C Algorithmics’ Professional Services team provides Delivery and Advisory support to clients across the various regions using SS&C Algorithmics products in production. These clients have already been through the implementation cycle and understand our software, risk management processes and IT in general.


SS&C Algorithmics’ Services employs a team of experienced risk professionals dedicated to provide expert services exclusively in Financial Risk Management and Regulatory Capital fields, and help clients derive the most value from the Algorithmics Suite of Risk solutions focused on Financial Risk (Credit, Market and Liquidity). The Services implementation and delivery team is comprised of functional and technical experts focused on understanding how to best configure and implement the risk solution to meet client needs. Our depth of experience and extensive proven practices help clients achieve successful outcomes, mitigates risks and raises the quality of their implementations.


This role is a Lead Financial Engineer role, based out of Europe, and will involve the provision of support and consultancy to ensure our clients receive the best possible advice, guidance and quality of service. The consultant will work with a team of other Junior and Senior professional services consultants, and post-implementation support teams, as well as supporting presales team in sales cycles, covering various territories for SS&C. Primary responsibility will be clients in Germany/Switzerland/Austria region, therefore, we expect the candidate to be a German speaker. The role will also include potential client coverage for wider Europe region depending on management assignment.


Required Qualifications and Desirable skills:


Has conceptual and applied knowledge and experience in financial services industry and risk management functions. We expect the candidate to be potentially experienced in Balance Sheet Risk management, Credits Loan Origination and Limit management functions.


Sound understanding of regulations in risk management industry – Basel 3 reforms, Fundamental Review of the Trading Book, Standardized Counterparty Credit Risk (SA-CCR), CVA regulations, Targeted Review of Internal Models (TRIM).


Applies professional knowledge related to financial risk management to Risk Analytics software.


Has 8-10 years of experience implementing or vendor consulting experience in risk management solutions in Credit risk and Balance Sheet risk management areas. Experience is implementing solutions involving Algo / SS&C risk analytics components (Riskwatch, Datamart, ACM) is a plus.


Ideally the candidate would have some knowledge of structured query languages, XML, Unix, data models, and data transformation routines. Hands-on experience in one of these tools is preferred – SQL, Unix / Scripting skills, Python, Matlab / C / C++ (but not a must)


Responsibilities


Ensure successful implementations and client outcomes, leveraging best practices, understanding of relevant regulations, client scope and policies, and working closely with Services implementation members and other departments such as Offering Management and Development.


  • Implement, research and consult on financial risk solution parameterization, financial  modeling and validation activities related to Risk Analytics solutions.
  • Provide consulting services to clients during implementation of risk management algorithms, models, processes, applications and reports focused on credit and market risk concepts, methodologies.
  • Actively participate in user acceptance tests and provide support in client’s unit testing process
  • Research and generate scenarios for financial instruments and financial models to meet client requirements in accordance with industry standards and requirements.
  • Assists clients with financial modeling validation, and verification during software implementation with use of Risk Analytics’ software to achieve risk management objectives.
  • Provide detailed use cases and feedback to product management for solution enhancements covering credit and market risk domains, accounting for client specific requirements.
  • Document and support product configurations in accordance with clients’ requirements and component capabilities.
  • Configure input data mapping for reporting / aggregation components, and design / build custom configuration and logic, and report views to display various portfolio level measures utilizing hierarchies, multiple dimensions, filters / aggregation keys.
  • Document business requirements, data mapping and data definitions, system designs, configuration specs, calculation logic, use-cases, client processes, and workflows and financial specifications.
  • Recommend and leverage best practices during the implementation of Algo Financial Risk solutions.
  • Support pre and post-sales activities by providing financial/actuarial/technical support materials and demos for clients.
  • Provide assistance in training clients in Algorithmics’ solution.
  • Assumes additional responsibilities as assigned.


Communication/Negotiation:


Position requires regular interaction and collaboration on functional and technical issues related to financial or actuarial models with external clients, internal departments and functional peers as concepts are moderately complex and require precise language and explanation to ensure shared understanding.


Negotiation is often required to resolve moderately complex issues related to financial, calculation or validation models and required solution enhancements and modifications.


Ability to conduct workshops and discovery sessions with client and skill to clearly articulate moderately complex ideas, detailed use cases, implementation proposals, summary reports

and memos to peers, managers and external clients.


Excellent written communication, having responsibility for documenting system design, configuration specifications, workflows and complex process and issues, modifying level of technical or functional details to suit different audiences from senior management to


Problem Solving:


Position requires expert analytical ability to create and validate financial or regulatory models.


Requires high-level of troubleshooting capabilities and techniques to investigate end to end data flow and calculation routines to determine underlying causes and to resolve errors in a timely and efficient manner.

Education:


University degree in the field of Economics, Finance, Mathematics, Applied Science, Statistics or other quantitative discipline.


Advanced or Post Graduate degree in Financial Engineering or Mathematical Finance, Business or equivalent is beneficial.


CFA, PRM or FRM designation(s) beneficial.
