Responsibilities

Chief Accountant is responsible for all areas related to finance and taxes. This position is responsible for developing and maintaining accounting principles and procedures to ensure local law compliance and accurate and timely preparation of financial statements and tax returns. This role is in charge of 3 legal entities: major one requires more direct involvement and hands-on approach while 2 others mostly supervision of 2 direct subordinates.


Main responsibilities:

Manage the accounting department in order to enhance the accuracy of the company's reported financial results and improve the financial processes

First point of contact re finance and tax issues to support other departments

Cooperate with centralized functions such as Treasury, Accounting SSC, Consolidation, Tax etc.

Statutory financial statements in accordance with German GAAP and annual audit completion on time

Ensure VAT declarations and income tax calculation are prepared and filed on time (in cooperation with 3rd party providers)

Maintain proper accounting records in line with local legislation

Month end closing process for group reporting purposes (US GAAP)

Ensure any new transactions are accounted for in line with local legislation

SOX 404 compliance for accounting related activities

Maintain control procedures in order to mitigate the risks for both group and local purposes

Manage relationship with fiscal authorities, external and internal auditors and consultants


Skills

Must have


Excellent knowledge of German GAAP and US-GAAP/ IFRS

Excellent German tax knowledge (VAT, CIT)

Advanced skills in Excel

Self-organized and independent work

Hands-on approach

Good communication skills, collaboration / team oriented with problem-solving attitude

Adequate experience in the accounting/finance area, preferably in multinational company

Experience as a manager

Capacity to work under pressure

English: fluent in speaking and writing

ERP knowledge - Oracle will be an advantage


Nice to have

Oracle experience

Concur experience
