Java Development Team Lead (Sportsbook) job in Sofia at The Stars Group

We are looking for a Java Development Team Lead to join our ISP team in Sofia!

The Team Lead Software Engineer will be part of the Stars Technology organization, ultimately led by the Group’s Chief Technology Officer (CTO).

Our tech teams work remotely within Bulgaria, occasionally you’ll need to come to the office in Sofia. Not often, but up to 4-5 times a month and of course, we’ll cover all related expenses. Working as a team is what makes us great and spending quality time together is essential for keeping us mission-aligned.

In this role, you will work as the hands-on team leader of the Development team in Bulgaria, responsible for delivering and servicing high quality, high functioning systems as part of The Stars Group Platform. You will be helping to develop and maintain systems that strive to be the best in class. If you enjoy working with code as well as leading a team of other developers and are motivated by working in a creative environment that allows you to build software using the newest technologies, our role is crafted for you.

As one of our highly skilled Developers, you will help define and analyze business requirements and implement solutions to business needs, ensuring their completion by putting together a robust end to end process. You will also help maintain our existing systems, develop new system applications and improve functionality to ensure high quality in any software releases. You will also become an expert in technologies that drive internet giants like Twitter and Netflix. Additionally, you will be responsible for coordinating the efforts of your team with other teams throughout the business.

You're a highly motivated developer who is passionate about writing good code. You have Bachelor’s or Masters Degree in either Engineering, Computer Science, or Mathematics. You have extensive experience with developing backend REST software for high load environments. You have solid understanding of object oriented and functional programming. You're a specialist in Java, including streams and lambdas. Solid grasp of any of Erlang, Elixir, Scala and Akka will be a great advantage.

• Experience with SQL and writing performant complex queries and architecting data solutions in high concurrency environments.
• Understanding of REST as well as Web Socket based infrastructures including HTTP 2.0.
• Knowledge of HTML 5, JavaScript, JavaScript Frameworks, Typescript and Cascading Style sheets (CSS).

You have phenomenal interpersonal skills including excellent English language skills. You can collaborate with other engineers and architects to help develop highly scalable distributed systems that handle a high volume of financial and gaming transactions in a high load environment. You can participate in open discussions about architecting solutions to satisfy the business and technical requirement. Knowledge of Gaming industry is a huge advantage.

You're not just willing but eager to learn new technologies and techniques that are cutting edge including functional programming for distributed systems, actor system. You show passion to work in a team and as a team to tackle problems but without requiring micromanagement.

You're enthusiastic to act as a mentor and lead to other developers of less experience. You're able to coordinate teams of developers to execute on plans in a timely fashion.
