Language Jobs in Malta
The Republic of Malta is an archipelago situated right in the middle of the Mediterranean Sea. English and Maltese are the two official languages but Italian is also widely spoken. Malta’s warm climate and beautiful coastlines often attract many expatriates but given the size of the island, the labour market is rather small and most available opportunities for bilingual/multilingual job seekers are often in and around the peninsula’s major cities such as the capital Valletta, as well as in Saint Julian’s and Sliema. Historically, the fishing, tourism or hospitality industries were the ones employing most foreign workers but Malta has also become a hub for online betting/gaming companies over the past few years. Therefore, opportunities for language speakers in IT, customer service/call centre and localization have been growing especially for those speaking German, Dutch, French, Japanese or Mandarin.
